Date Math Reference (2026): Day Counts, Business Days, and Leap Years

How many days and business days are in 2026?

2026 has 365 calendar days and 261 weekdays (Monday through Friday), because 2026 is not a leap year. The remaining 104 days fall on a Saturday or Sunday. Every figure on this page is computed directly from the Gregorian calendar the same way the date calculator above computes its results, not pulled from a third-party estimate, so the numbers move in lockstep with the tool.

Is 2026 a leap year?

No. 2026 is not a leap year, because it is not evenly divisible by 4. A leap year adds an extra day, February 29, to keep the 365-day calendar year aligned with the roughly 365.24-day solar year. The rule has one exception: century years must be divisible by 400, not just 4, to qualify (1900 was not a leap year; 2000 was).

Leap year ruleA year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4, unless it is also divisible by 100, in which case it must also be divisible by 400. 2024 is a leap year (366 days). 2026 and 2027 are not. 2028 is next.

Methodology

Where these numbers come from

Every count on this page is generated by walking the Gregorian calendar day by day for January 1 through December 31, 2026, and classifying each day as a weekday (Monday through Friday) or a weekend day (Saturday or Sunday). This is the same date arithmetic used by the calculator at the top of the site. There is no external cost or survey data on this particular page, because day counts and the leap year rule are fixed mathematical facts of the Gregorian calendar (in use for civil dates since 1582), not figures that vary by source.
